Reporting to the Head of Maintenance; the position requires a hard-working maintenance professional to work on a wide range of manufacturing, building, and general equipment.   • Verify the accuracy of production automation equipment and
  • Verify the accuracy of production records and entries into Microsoft Navision.
  • Perform time and cycle studies of all production processes
  • Perform code review as required, such as Ontario building and fire codes
  • Monitor and control operator training activities, documents, records
  • Monitor and review automation production reports, follow up on any non-conforming results with production management
  • Assist R&D project scale up’s and production trials
  • Assist QC department with any investigations and quality reports
  • Assist Production and Biolab as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Engineering (Chemical/Industrial engineering preferred)

Job Duties:

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in capacity planning and ensure that the day to day scheduling issues are managed effectively and keep management informed of scheduling conflicts
  • Communicate information relating to equipment, scheduling, inventory, quality, health and safety to appropriate staff and management as required

Job Description

This role will be assisting in purchasing, maintaining optimal inventory levels, sourcing raw materials, helping oversee the material cost reduction program, and analyzing market and delivery systems throughout the supply chain to assess present and future material availability, while optimizing costs. The successful candidate must be willing to negotiate with vendors when required. Familiarity with ERP system and broad knowledge of manufacturing processes including inventory, production, and distribution would be an asset. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator who is self-motivated and can work in a very fast paced environment. Purchasing experience in the chemicals industry is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and secure new potential raw material vendors, ensuring they meet regional requirements for registration
  • Develop key relationships with vendors to gather up-to-date material information
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the best price and service
  • Implement change and develop new processes to better procure goods and services
  • Provide periodic reporting for management on purchasing, controls, and processes
  • Work with the finance team to ensure invoices are accurately processed and discrepancies are resolved
  • Conduct basic market research to identify potential suppliers and products
